How Far Is Too Far?

Every parent at some point will face this question with their teenager. Many Christian families clearly lay out a boundary of “no intercourse” but don’t have clearly defined conversation with their children about what constitutes wise and acceptable physical boundaries before marriage. This article by Tim Challies is a great start for parents thinking through the best way to discuss this with their kids.

“It is easier than ever.” Mr. Peeping Tom | The Blog of Mark Kuykendall

Mark Kuykendall, the family ministry pastor at Bethel Bible Church in Tyler, TX recently posted this article on his blog: “It is easier than ever.” Mr. Peeping Tom | The Blog of Mark Kuykendall.  Most helpful to me was the questions he posed for families to consider:

  • Do you know the types of pictures that your family is posting on social media sites?
  • Are you having conversations about modesty and the dangers of posting pictures for others to see?
  • Are you helping protect the innocence of your children and the children of others?

As parents we must always be aware of where our kids go online and how they are representing themselves to others.  These questions are great at helping us have the right attitude and conversations needed to protect our kids.

Advice for Raising Godly Children – Kevin DeYoung

Here is an interesting post with quotes from one of our nations founders about raising children.  As a father of a 3 year-old, I find myself often doing the things that Witherspoon warns against.  It is too easy to tie my discipline and parenting to pragmatic advice for my daughter, rather than focusing her attention on her relationship with God.  What’s the hardest thing you’ve confronted as a parent in disciplining your child?
