There is a great article at the Christianity Today website about girls and modesty. This topic tends to get people quickly divided into camps (“It’s all about the clothing” vs. “It’s all about the sinful hearts”), but this article does a good job of looking at the topic from a biblical perspective, something that happens far too rarely in these discussions. The Importance of Raising Children with a Biblical Worldview
I came across this article the other day reminding me of the importance of raising our children with a biblical worldview. It’s more important than just an add-on at a school. How do you incorporate these principles in your parenting?
5 Dangers to Avoid in Parenting: From the Ligonier Blog
Ligonier Ministries has a great post today about the role of parents in the formation of the family. I often find myself correcting my style and methods of discipline so that I do not exasperate my daughter. It is very easy to fall into the traps listed in the article.
Resources on Cutting
Here are a couple of blog posts from the Biblical Counseling Coalition website that have some helpful thoughts on cutting:
Cutting: Bleeding the Pain Away
2 Lies That Must Be Defeated to Overcome Cutting
This second post is the first part in a multi-part series that doesn’t seem to be up yet. Both articles do a great job of pointing towards Christ as the only true remedy:
“The alienation you’ve felt from your parents, your peers, your teachers, your bosses, and God has a remedy. The blood of Jesus purifies us and opens the door for good relationships with one another. So trust in the blood of Christ, not your own blood. Blood is very powerful—when it’s Christ’s blood!”
